Pewter Heart Locket

What It Is/Does: The pewter heart locket was a necklace given to Melinda Warren, the first of the Warren/Halliwell line of witches, by her lover Matthew Tate. After being betrayed by him in 1692, she'd learned that he was a warlock, and had given the necklace back to him, cursing him into it so that only she or someone from her line could release him. More than two centuries later, in 1998, one of Melinda's descendants, Prue Halliwell, had opened the locket, accidentally freeing him. He'd proceeded to copy Prue's power and that of her two sisters, Piper and Phoebe, prompting them to summon Melinda, who had then helped the sisters curse him back into the locket.
